The 17 Project
I spent a fair bit of time on TikTok and other social media platforms. I remember seeing a video about the political opinions and affiliations of people of different generations. The person in the video claimed that those in Generation Z were more likely to be left-leaning. This sparked many questions for me. Could this be true? Could age be a factor in the political opinions of people my age, given the policies in place and state of the world that will directly impact us? Or, more likely, could we all be the same as those before us, and adopt the political opinions of our parents/family? Are political opinions affected by things such as class and race? I sought to answer these questions, and designed a survey directed towards those who reside in America and are 17 years of age, just about to enter the voting population. The survey poses questions about the respondent's age, race, class, beliefs, and more.
